T-Mobile @Home Service
Knock, knock! Who’s there? T-Mobile. T-Mobile who? T-Mobile @Home now provides VOIP (voice over Internet protocol) phone service for just $10 a month! QUICK … OPEN THE DOOR!!
I get in trouble for switching services at home all the time. Usually the motivating factor for me is cost. That was the case with the T-Mobile @Home phone service. Just so you know I’ve used Vonage and Verizon’s VoiceWing VOIP phones and both worked out fine. Vonage gave me some trouble a few years ago and that’s what prompted me to move over to Verizon.
Now that T-Mobile offers all the same phone features for $10 I’m on the bandwagon. I mean, who really wants to pay $30 plus taxes a month for unlimited local and long distance when they don’t have to anymore? My mother is still paying over $60 a month for long distance and she’s next to jump on the band wagon.
VOIP phone service has come a long way in reliability and quality. Our phone number port only took about 3 days to go to T-Mobile. Comparatively it took about 3 weeks to get it from Verizon land-line to Vonage, and 2 weeks to get it from Vonage to VoiceWing. So a lot has changed since VOIP came out on the scene.
Some things you need to know about their service though:
- You have to have a T-Mobile mobile phone account to get this deal. The basic mobile phone package is $30. We already had T-Mobile for our cell phone service.
- You have to sign a two year agreement. So, what.
- If you get a T-Mobile WiFi capable phone, then all your calls at home will be routed through the T-Mobile @Home service and will not count against your minutes. Yippee!
- There is no online voicemail access. The other companies give you a portal to view your voicemail, save them as mp3, and forward them if you’d like.
- There is no email notification when you receive a voicemail at home. That was a nice little feature we enjoyed with the other services as well.
If you already have T-Mobile mobile service then you should check out the @Home product. It’s worth the savings!
